We tell our students:

We believe that you can accomplish all things with a plan, and with desire.
It starts by seeing yourself where you want to be; you must create a VISION for your future, and then create a plan to get there.

Our core belief:

We at SVC believe in the power of positive inter-personal interactions with caring adults, who understand the potential in each child. We believe that such adults can play a critical role in helping our youth create a positive vision for their future.

Purpose:

VISIONS is a national leadership development program specifically for minority ninth grade students, and is designed to encourage and support a focus on academic success and goal achievement. The program's aim is to assist students in making that important link between success in high school and success in life, thereby reducing the high drop-out rate for ninth grade students.

We understand that students are strongly impacted by inter-personal interactions with caring adults who can speak first hand about their experiences, and challenges; successful people who possess the same or similar backgrounds Therefore, the program utilizes Expert Partners, to deliver powerful relevant messages to students, embracing an expectation for students' success. Our Expert Partners are successful minority men and women, from a variety of fields, with diverse areas of expertise and interest. They engage students in candid conversations on the specifics of their careers, personal challenges, and their personal journey to success. Their specific expertise and interest areas are aligned with the program's core principles:

There are various options to delivering the VISIONS program, from an all day conference style, culminating into one-on-one sessions with Expert Partners in the afternoon, to a series of workshops (1.5 - 3 hours) spanning 5-8 weeks.
